About Bel Air Youth Baseball & Softball
A Proud Division of the Bel Air Recreation Committee (BARC)
Welcome to Bel Air Youth Baseball & Softball, the premier community sports program serving families in Bel Air, Maryland, and the surrounding Harford County area.
As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization operated under the guidance of the Bel Air Recreation Committee, our mission is simple: To provide a safe, positive, and fun environment where local youth can learn the games of baseball and softball, develop life skills, and build lifelong friendships.
Our Core Philosophy
We believe that youth sports are about much more than the scoreboard. Across both our baseball and softball divisions, our programs are built on five foundational pillars:
-
Instruction & Development: Focusing on age-appropriate fundamentals, physical fitness, and mastering the mechanics of the game.
-
Good Sportsmanship: Teaching players how to win with humility, lose with grace, and respect opponents, coaches, and umpires.
-
Community & Teamwork: Fostering a family-friendly environment that brings neighbors together and teaches the value of working toward a common goal.
-
Inclusivity: Offering levels of play that welcome everyone—from the first-time T-Baller to the elite high school athlete.
Our Programs at a Glance
We proudly support hundreds of athletes each year across our Spring and Fall seasons, offering tailored pathways for both baseball and softball players.
⚾ Youth Baseball Divisions
From introducing the basics to preparing athletes for high school competition, our baseball program features a structured progression:
-
In-House Recreational Leagues: Co-ed T-Ball, Coach Pitch (7/8), and player-pitch divisions (9/10, 11/13, 13/15, and 16/17) designed for development, equal playtime, and fun.
-
Bel Air Brigade (Travel Baseball): A highly competitive program for dedicated players looking to compete in regional travel leagues and tournaments.
🥎 Youth Softball Divisions
Our softball program is dedicated to empowering young female athletes, building confidence, and honing athletic skills:
-
In-House & Inter-League Rec Softball: Age-specific divisions structured to teach pitching, base running, and advanced field strategy while maintaining a supportive, community-first atmosphere.
-
Travel Softball Teams: Competitive opportunities for players seeking advanced training, higher-level tournament exposure, and regional league play.
Powered by Volunteers
Bel Air Youth Baseball & Softball is entirely player-centered and volunteer-powered. Every coach, assistant, field liner, and board member is a dedicated volunteer donating their time to enrich the lives of our community's children.
Get Involved!
An excellent youth sports experience requires a village. We are always looking for enthusiastic parents and community members to join our team as:
-
Head and Assistant Coaches
-
Team Parents and Coordinators
-
Field Maintenance Volunteers
-
Board Members and Event Staff
Background checks and safety certifications are required for all volunteers interacting with players to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Safety & Facilities
The safety of our athletes is our top priority. Our programs utilize well-maintained fields across the Bel Air area, authorized and permitted through Harford County Parks & Recreation and Harford County Public Schools. We strictly adhere to up-to-date player safety protocols, including concussion awareness training and equipment safety compliance across all age brackets.
